The Laboratory for Fundamental Medical Dosimetry (LFMD) delivers precise and traceable medical dosimetry, ensuring safe and effective use of radiation in radiotherapy, diagnostic imaging, and radiation protection across healthcare and research.

LFMD at DTU RISØ is an internationally recognised facility dedicated to accurate measurement and calibration in the field of medical dosimetry. The laboratory provides traceable standards that support safe and effective use of radiation in healthcare, ranging from radiotherapy and diagnostic imaging to radiation protection. Its activities ensure confidence in clinical practice, research, and regulatory compliance.

In addition to calibration and verification, LFMD offers consultancy and specialised expertise tailored to the needs of hospitals, clinics, and research institutions. By combining advanced measurement techniques with practical applications, LFMD plays a key role in strengthening both the scientific basis and the daily practice of medical radiation dosimetry.

Ionization chamber calibrations are traceable to PTB in Germany.
